Yosemite covers 1189 square miles of some of the world's most spectacular scenery. Happy Campers ©2004 Inc Adventure

We're coming into our 13th year of offering backpackers and travelers the best way to experience Yosemite in a relaxed fun filled atmosphere at a very good price. Because we mix the hiking up and include a free day where you can choose the trails you wish to hike nobody is put under pressure and at the same time nobody is held back. The itinerary varies depending on the time of year, weather conditions, snow level and a number of other factors together the best but because we know the park so well we always put on an interesting schedule and bring you to Yosemite's most spectacular areas.

The campsite we use is good. It has clean bathroom with hot shower facilities, fresh drinking water and is situated in the picturesque Merced River canyon close to the river. Because we drive to the campsite it means you don't have to carry your backpacks with you. We just leave them in the van and all you need to hike with is a day pack.

Location: We meet at one central location: Hilton Hotel at the corner of Mason and O'Farrell Streets. Our guide will meet the group at 6:45am sharp.

Yosemite Camping Trip Tour Details:

Day 1:

We leave San Francisco in the morning after pickup from The Hilton Hotel. Once out of the city we stop to purchase fresh food for our time in the park. Once we have all of our provisions we will cross the Central Valley and through the Gold Country on our way into the mountains. On this first day we hike down to the Giant Sequoia trees for a picnic lunch, among the largest living things on earth. The hike through the Sequoias is shaded and pleasant and brings you right up close to these massive wooden monuments, some of which are over one thousand years old and measure up to 30ft wide & 300ft tall. Continuing into the park on an 1 1/2 hour guided tour, we descend into Yosemite Valley, which is the most famous and picturesque part of Yosemite with some of the world's tallest waterfalls and incredible vistas made famous by the photographer Ansel Adams. While in the valley your guide will give you an orientation to the park as well as an explanation of the itinerary and options that you will have for the next two days. After some free time in Yosemite Valley you will head for the campsite to set up the tents and cook a delicious meal, ending the day with some drinks around the campfire as you decide what to do with your next two days in the park.

Day 2:

Rising early we prepare breakfast and lunch, clean up camp and head off in the van for a fun day in the park full of hiking, sightseeing and exploring. Usually the second day is reserved for exploring the Yosemite High Country. A group hike to May Lake and Mount Hoffman is the highlight for this day (depending upon snowpack). May Lake is a picturesque example of a High Sierra Lake. If you are interested in more of a challenge you can continue past May Lake to Mount Hoffman. Located at the geographic center of the park Mount Hoffman is a non-technical hike that rewards with a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountain landscape. At the end of the day we head back to camp for dinner and to unwind by the campfire.

Day 3:

Day three is what we call the free day where the exact itinerary is flexible, based on the interests of the group. Normally we head into Yosemite Valley where you can choose one of the number of great hikes, rent a bike or relax in the shade by the emerald green Merced River. After another full day in the park we head back to San Francisco arriving in the city around 9:00 PM.
