Great experience!! Although I've been to San Francisco a number of times, this was a really unique way to see parts of the city in an entirely new and different manner. Our guide was fantastic and very helpful with both the technical input regarding the operation of the Segways, as well as the narrative about the sights along the way. I had been a little worried about some of the online reviews about how short the tour would be, but it actually didn't feel at all short and in the end there's no question that it was easily worth the cost. My only suggestion would be to keep the "down time" at stops shorter so that you can extend the distance covered and places seen. We clearly were the envy of everyone walking on foot, riding bikes and even those in cars!!! Can't wait to go back for the more advanced tour..... For those who have seen Segway but not had any chance of trying it out, this is a good way to do it. The tour operator made sure that the route is safe. And this builds one's confidence and experience level in using the machine. Plus, it is a great way to know the city of SF without "much effort." I recently sprained my ankle and was worried about operating these vehicles. I needn't have been. If you can walk, lean forward and back, stand up straight...you too can do this!!! It's that easy. Would I lie to you!!!! Trust me...you will finish this tour and want to buy one of these machines...they are totally cool.
Apart from the fact that you are operating some amazing technology, you will also receive a thoroughly comprehensive tour of the San Francisco Bay Area. The tour guide (In our case Lilly) explains the local sights by two way radios attached to your Segway.

What a great experience. First, Carla and Galen both were excellent guides and knew how to add fun to the language of the tour. I appreciated their humor on all counts. Second and most important to me, though, was the riding of the Segway itself. It's difficult to explain/teach the how-to of the mechanics of the machine---sort of like trying to teach a person to ride a bicycle using only words---so the initial hands-on training and the loop out on the pier for reinforcement were both necessary and fun. What a trip!! I'd do the whole thing over in a heartbeat, except I'd do the night tour first and the Saulsalito one next. Loved the wings/pin; it's proudly displayed on my coat collar. The San Francisco Segway Tour is a fun new way to see San Francisco.
Tours includes 35-45 minutes of orientation and training. We offer the 1st Segway tour of San Francisco! Ages 12 and up. The Segway is not appropriate for those weighing under 100 pounds or over 250 pounds. Reservations required.
Tours depart daily.
April until October choose 9:00 AM, 12:30 PM or 4:00 PM.

DEPARTURE LOCATION:
Segway Tours depart from the rear parking lot at 757 Beach Street near the corner of Hyde Street. Located across Beach Street from the Hyde Street Cable Car turn around in Fisherman's Wharf. A Wells Fargo Bank ATM is at the entrance to our training area.
Important: Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time to check in and start your tour and training on time. The tour and training will last 2 1/2 to three hours and include stops for a refreshment and lots of pictures. Tours are limited to nine riders. Reservations are required.
Return Details:
Tour concludes at the original departure point in Fisherman's Wharf.
Payment:
Payment in advance by major credit card; Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover Card. An additional damage deposit must be secured with a Credit Card upon check in for your tour.

Who can ride a Segway? Are Segways safe for children or people with disabilities?
Riding a Segway is similar to riding a bike-it's intuitive but nobody is born knowing how to operate it. That's why the tour includes 35-45 minutes (estimated) of training so you can get familiar with riding a Segway.
Rider Requirements:
Segway riding is not recommended for pregnant women. Unfortunately, pregnant women will not be permitted to participate.
All guests must be able to easily and quickly step on and off the Segway without any assistance, which requires physical abilities similar to climbing and descending stairs without assistance or use of a handrail. You will be standing for 2 hours.
A Segway is not an ideal mode of touring for people with some mobility issues. Please call if you have questions.
The Segway is not appropriate for those weighing under 100 pounds or over 250 pounds (46-113 kilos.) Helmets and reflective vests are provided and required.
We do require that all riders be at least 12 years old.
Riders under 18 must be accompanied on the tour by a parent or guardian.
NOTE: To All Guests for the Segway Tour: All guests must be age 12 or older and weigh between 100-250 lbs. No refunds if you do not meet these criteria.
Liability Agreement:
All customers will be required to review and sign our tour agreement and liability waiver before starting their tour. The San Francisco Electric Tour Company assumes no responsibility for delays caused by accidents, breakdown, bad conditions of the road and other conditions beyond our control, in addition to insufficient numbers of guests. Not responsible for loss or damage to property.
Changes to a Reservation and Cancellation and No Show Policy:
Reservations require a full deposit via Credit Card. We will send an e-mail confirmation of the date and time of your tour. Deposits are fully refundable if the reservation is canceled 3 days -72 hours or more prior to the scheduled tour. We have a limited amount of Segways. No Shows are charged in full. The deposit WILL NOT be refunded for any reason within 72 hours of your scheduled tour. A signed liability waiver is required prior to your tour departure.
IMPORTANT Check your Confirmation for Correct Date and Time:
It is your responsibility to be at the designated tour location on the correct date. Please check your confirmation carefully. No refund for no-shows.

Meals Souvenirs and Miscellaneous Costs:
Tour prices do not include Meals, Beverages, Admission Fees, Tolls or Souvenirs.
Tour Size, Routing and Weather:
We reserve the right to change the size or routing of the tour to meet demands for that specific day. San Francisco is famous for the fog! Our tours run fog, light rain or shine. We always suggest multiple layers of warm clothing for any San Francisco activity. Summer afternoon temperatures can be in the 50's. Rain gear is available for those infrequent rainy days. Segways are designed to run in any weather. If seasonal fog or weather obscures the view, tour routes may be altered. You will not be charged if we cancel a tour.
